The internship that CARES C4T are offering, provides the students personal read world insights and exposures to actual working life that provides them foundation to their career choices. The 10 weeks internship that we have provided SHI Zhenyu is of no exception as well. Zhenyu, a 4th year Chemical and Biomedical Engineering student from Nanyang Technological University, joined C4T IRP3 for her summer internship in May 2016.

Here’s what Zhenyu had to share about her intern experience with us:

“I was glad that I joined Cambridge CARES for my summer internship. It has been an enriching experience. A large number of world-leading research projects related to carbon reduction are included in the C4T program. I was working on soot characterization in flames generated from different fuels. Lab work, data analysis as well as literature reviewing were my main tasks. Since the laboratories were newly established, I also had the opportunity to learn how equipment and sampling systems were designed, put together and tested. I found it extremely interesting as those were real life problems that lab classes in school would not teach. Moreover, colleagues at CARES were open-minded and welcoming, and working atmosphere was easy and relaxed. I would definitely recommend those who have a passion for research in chemical engineering, both experimental work and computer modelling, to consider internships offered by CARES. Students will get a taste of the challenging yet rewarding life of PhDs and researchers.”
