Elena VARELA FUENTES

Deputy Chief of Staff

Elena completed a BA Hons (2007) and an MA in English Literature (2011) at the University of Hertfordshire, and more recently the UK’s Association for Project Management Qualification. Elena has worked in the UK higher education sector and in research support since 2007. Before joining CARES, Elena worked in the preparation of the University of Cambridge’s submission to the Research Excellence Framework assessment exercise 2021, and on the assessment of submissions to two assessment panels whilst on secondment to Research England.

Elena moved from Cambridge to Singapore in April 2022 to take up the position of CARES Deputy Chief of Staff.
