The Isaac Manasseh Meyer (IMM) Chair Professorship is a visiting appointment at the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Department. The appointment enables the University to welcome experts to share their knowledge with students and faculty, and participate in collaborative research.

Prof Alexei Lapkin’s 3-year appointment as a Visiting IMM Chair Professor will provide opportunities for intellectual exchange and innovation between NUS and CARES using data-driven and AI-enabled approaches in synthetic chemistry and chemical process development.

This exchange will also be highly relevant for CARES’ decarbonisation research with NUS, a leading institution in Asia for Chemical Engineering studies.

“I’m excited to have an opportunity to work closer with colleagues in this amazing department. In the next few years I hope to build new collaborations, learn from new colleagues and share our experiences in research and venture building,” said Prof Lapkin.

Prof Lapkin’s research areas in chemical engineering, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and sustainable manufacturing have enriched CARES since joining our first decarbonisation programme in 2015; initiating new projects on carbon capture technology, and co-founding two successful spin-offs in Singapore now working with the chemical industry.

Prof Alexei Lapkin currently holds positions as the CARES Director of Entrepreneurship, a Professor of Sustainable Reaction Engineering at the University of Cambridge, and the Director of the Innovation Centre in Digital Molecular Technologies (iDMT) at the University of Cambridge.
