Profile

Dr Francesco D'ALESSIO

Research Fellow

Dr Francesco D’Alessio obtained his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome, where he investigated the fundamental dynamics of low-carbon combustion systems. His research focused on the effects of intrinsic instabilities and detailed reaction kinetics on pollutant emissions in lean premixed ammonia–hydrogen–air flames, using high-fidelity numerical simulations and advanced diagnostic techniques.

In 2025, he joined CARES as part of the HYCOMBS project under the supervision of Professor Epaminondas Mastorakos. His current work centres on the development of next-generation hydrogen combustion technologies, aiming to advance clean energy solutions through detailed computational modelling and fundamental studies of flame behaviour in sustainable fuel blends.
