Dr Marc LE BOURSICAUD
Research Fellow
Dr Marc Le Boursicaud completed his PhD in Fluid Mechanics and Combustion at Aix-Marseille University, where he investigated shock-induced ignition hazards from high-pressure hydrogen tank leakage. His research involved developing models to capture the interactions between rapid flow expansion, hydrogen–air mixing, and ignition phenomena, leading to criteria for ignition limits as a function of tank pressure and leak geometry. He also studied how obstacles placed near the release could modify the risk of self-ignition.
He joined CARES in 2025 as part of the HYCOMBS project under the supervision of Professor Epaminondas Mastorakos. His work now focuses on alternative fuel blends and their flame behaviour through computational modelling and fundamental combustion studies.
